The above error is mainly because you didnt imported the dependent projects into your web application project or the required jar is not added to your WEB-INF/lib directory

In Eclipse IDE, to add the dependent projects as jar files to WEB-INF/lib goto the prject properties-deployment assembly and click on add which navigates you to a screen where you are allowed to add any archive file to your project.

java.lang.IllegalStateException: No Factories configured for this Application

SEVERE: StandardWrapper.Throwable
java.lang.IllegalStateException: No Factories configured for this Application. This happens if the faces-initialization does not work at all - make sure that you properly include all configuration settings necessary for a basic faces application and that all the necessary libs are included. Also check the logging output of your web application and your container for any exceptions!
If you did that and find nothing, the mistake might be due to the fact that you use some special web-containers which do not support registering context-listeners via TLD files and a context listener is not setup in your web.xml.
A typical config looks like this;
<listener>
<listener-class>org.apache.myfaces.webapp.StartupServletContextListener</listener-class>
</listener>

One of the possible solution could be try to import the JSF related jar files into you lib by defining them in pom.xml as follows:

<dependency>
<groupId>javax.faces</groupId> <artifactId>jsf-api</artifactId>
<version>1.2_12</version>
</dependency>
<dependency>
<groupId>javax.faces</groupId> <artifactId>jsf-impl</artifactId>
<version>1.2_12</version>
</dependency>

Child object not deleted, No hibernate excetption thrown

use the following property

@Cascade({ org.hibernate.annotations.CascadeType.ALL, org.hibernate.annotations.CascadeType.DELETE_ORPHAN })

Wednesday, July 27, 2011

Dont ever use property "<prop key="hibernate.hbm2ddl.auto">create</prop>"

There is a property in hibernate configurations to create the schema/database based on the object model which is a very drawback in hibernate's history
and the property is : create

Dont ever ever use this property which will not atleast show a warning message when deleting the data or schema itself from the database connected.
